Deep, delicious – one of he darkest purple Pacifica hybrids that we’ve encountered. This hybrid heavily draws from the excellent and floriferous species Iris innominata- native to southwest Oregon, Its known for having yellow flowers in the type form but deep purple forms exist. Grassy fine foliage is evergreen and lays flat over winter. The flowers are large and showy and begin in late April and proceed through May. One of the more adaptable Pacifica hybrids, its vigorous and long lived as well. Best in enriched soil with regular water for the first season. Let the soil dry between irrigation. Part shade- especially under deciduous trees such as native oaks, maples to full hot sun. An established clump can produce quite a show of 8+ flowers open simultaneously. Plant with other part shade or perennials, Clinopodium douglasii (Yerba Buena), Vancouveria, Mitella, Dicentra. Beautiful on slopes. Water more in full sun, less in shade. To 14″ tall in bloom forming fan shaped colonies of spikey foliage to 8″ tall. Excellent deer and rabbit resistance.
