Foliage season:

Pretty dwarf evergreen shrub with variegated leaves and is useful in protected locations. To just 2′ tall by 3 wide in 7 years each oblong leaf is edged in white with a center of sage green. Dense growing for full sun to part shade and average to rich well drained soil. In May/June small clusters of ivory colored flowers are sweetly scented. Best in a protected location- near a house wall or at the top of a wall. Avoid eastern exposure to subfreezing gorge winds. Excellent performance at the Oregon coast. Could be massed as a tall ground cover. Drought adapted. Best performance in warm urban gardens- otherwise light overhead protection of trees or a wind-free location is advised. Excellent winter appearance.
